WS-X6708-10GE NEBS Compliant problem.

Have a WS-X6708-10GE module in slot 13 of a 6513 that has powered it self down due to %C6KENV-SP-6-NONNEBSCOMP: Module 13 installation makes this system non-NEBS compliant error in the log. The card then is powered off with that message also visable in the logs. Trying to repower the module repeats the proccess of it powering down.

#####Error Message########

%C6KENV-SP-6-NONNEBSCOMP: Module 13 installation makes this system non-NEBS compliant

%PM_SCP-SP-1-LCP_FW_ERR: System resetting module 13 to recover from error: Linecard received system exception

&OIR-SP-3-PWRCYCLE: Card in module 13, is being power-cycled Off (Module Reset due to exception or user request)

%C6KPWR-SP-4-DISABLED: power to module in slot 13 set Off (Module reset due to exception or user request)

Opened a TAC Case and have aready recieved notice from the TAC to start the RMA process. I'm just wonding if there is a known problem with the WS-X6708-10GE since this is the second time within four months that we have had this problem with the only difference being different that it happened in another 6513. In the previous case a new module via the RMA process seemed to solve the problem.

You are hitting a bug CSCsl54875.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_2sb/release/notes/122SB.html

This is normal and documented in the release notes (sort of) here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.2SXF/native/release/notes/OL_4164.html#wp2561983

In these chassis, operation of a WS-X6708-10GE switching module without

over-temperature alarms is supported only with operating temperatures up to 40°

C:

Full NEBS-compliance requires support for operating temperatures up to 55° C,

which is available in all other chassis that support WS-X6708-10GE.
