Unity reconnects to secondary DC

When the primary DC that Unity is connected to is not available and Unity is the process of reconnecting /sync'ing with the secondary messages should still be delivered to existing subscribers correct? Would a delivery delay result or should delivery happen quickly?

It's a common misunderstanding that the DC or GC that Cisco Unity's directory monitors use to synch with Active Directory (Those listed in the DC/GC Reconnect Settings Tool) is the one used for message delivery via MAPI.
