How many calls can be made with a PVDM2-48 ?

I'm having voice quality issues. During a conversation, a call gets more and more faint going into a metalic sound to the point where you just hang up.

This happens on calls to the PSTN and accross the WAN. The router has a PVDM2-48. How do you calculate how many calls can be made with this PVDM? How do I know if I'm going over the alloted resources?

I did a test and got this. Does it mean I missing something?

no, a PVDM2-48 has 3 DSPs

each channel can support a call with G711, so those are 48 calls if you're only using them for media termination.

i recall some bugs causing metalic sound, might be a good idea to upgrade the dsps FW

Thanks for the response. What about G729 calls? Is it one per channel? What about transcoding? Is it one tracoding resource perchannel?

Hi D.Anthony,

Just to add a note to the good tips from Java (+5 points my friend)
