I am working on bringing up a 2nd Internet pipe at Bldg B the current Intenet connection is in Bldg A. If I were to configured a remote 2821 router with 2 gateway of last resort 1st choice is pointing Internet traffic to Bldg A and 2nd choice pointing Internet traffic to Bldg B. Would 2821 routers or any layer 3 devices automatically route Internet traffic to Bldg B if Bldg A connection is lost or does it require a floating route ( higher distance metric on 2nd choice) ?

If you use 2 statics with the same administrative distance then the router will use both routes to send traffic.

If you want Bldg B to be only used in the event of Bldg A failure then you will need to have a higher AD on te default route pointing to Bldg B.

Perfect, I want the 2821 routers to load balancing the Internet traffic.

Thanks Jon
