We are planning a new UCM 7.x installation for 2000 users. We plan to integrated with AD, all users already have 4 digit phone extension field in AD with respective 4 digits. My question is, I see how to "import" those users via LDAP integration. But what is the quickest way to also add Extension Mobility and Device Mobility for 500 of those users? Also, we also want to "bind" the respective phone to each user.

I have looked at srnd and admin guides, but didn't see specifics on how to "bulk add" EM and Device Mobility plus bind phones to users.

Can someone please provide fairly detailed response on the steps involved.

thank you in advance.

When you sync CUCM with LDAP you do not get all the required information as certain fields such as PIN, User Locale, associated devices/profiles obviously are not imported.

What I generally do is:

1. Sync with AD to import users.

2. Create phones using BAT

3. Export users from CUCM using BAT - this gives you a spreadsheet with usernames, first name/last name and telephone number.

4. Create EM device profiles using BAT. You can use the user information exported in stage 3 to assist with this.

5. Update users to add locale, associated devices etc. using BAT and the information exported in stage 3.

There is quite alot of spreadsheet manipulation involved but, if you use phone and device profile templates, this can be kept manageable.

The better you are with Excel the easier things will be. Using the CONCATENATE function to create descriptions from combinations of first name, last name and telephone number helps alot.

Hope this has given you some guidance.
