Trying to understand if I need to configure Jumbo Frames for a network

I considering the option of configuring Jumbo frames (9000) for an Oracle Cluster.Am I required to configure jumbo frames on all the switches in this network ?

Not necessarily, but you would need to enable Jumbo frames on all the switches that will be passing frames greater than 1500.

Hello Jon,

All the transit switches will need to have their system mtu changed if I understand you correctly.Would vlan mtu increase to 9000k suffice ?

It would help. However,this assumes you have no other issue on your network and that the NICs in your servers support large frames as well.

A mix of 3550s,3560s and 6509s.
