I understand the SPA3102 uses disticntive ringing when it sees a specific caller-id, but can it detect an incoming pstn calls distinctive ring? If not, how does it detect the ringing & it it possibe to enter a cadence for a distinctive ring and have it detect that?

I've seen post on the net from 2004 that acknowledge that this feature didn't exist back then. Here's hoping things have advanced in 5 years.

Hi Patrick,

I've previously read that Guide (which incidentally also covers all other Linksys ATA devices, which makes figuring out if which device you're reading options for rather difficult) and it really wasn't much help apart from listing options, hence my my last resport post here.

I take it that the SPA3102 doesn't detect incoming pstn call distinctive ring?

How does it detect rings then?

Hi Raoul,

No, the SPA3102 does not detect incoming PSTN call distinctive ring.

The only way to use distictive ringing is with the caller id method that you have already seen.
