IOS>LWAPP, you use cisco's upgrade tool

CiscoAironet-AP-to-LWAPP-Upgrade-Tool-v34.exe

LWAPP>IOS, from WLC's CLI you do:

"config ap tftp-downgrade "

it will automatically tftp the image and reboot the AP with the autonomous IOS image

Thanks for this information!

Regards, JB

When doing the downgrade from the controller, will the AP keep it's IP address and/or hostname?

It doesn't act like holding in the mode button does it? In other words, it will download with current IP address, not boot it into a 10.0.0.1 address and look for the default tar file?

Would they be able to be converted to IOS remotely without losing connection?

No it won't.

IOS to LWAPP and LWAPP convert to IOS see link for complete guide :

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lwapp/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html

This link is ok. I have converted IOS to LWAPP for 20 APs <1242AG>. It works :-)

Don't forget to preconfigure your WLC too.

Yes, thanks!

But unfortunately it seems that I can't download the Images (probably because of my Guest-Level access?!).

Can this be performed on AP1231 APs? I have performed the upgrade to get this AP working with 5.2 code on a 4402 WLC. the upgrade is a success but then I get a certificate error? plus debug pm pki enable is no longer available!

Convert it again to LWAP and back to Autonomous using the Conversion Tool. During the conversion, make sure that the Autonomous AP and the conversion tool can ping the WLC's management IP Address.
