RICS0001:Internal Error, unable to process the collected data from the devic

Answered Question
May 15th, 2009

We have a large amount of 3550 switches that have recently started to fail on Inventory collection within RME. With the above error.

We are running RME 4.0.6 and the switches are running IOS 12.1(19)EA1a.

Is this related to the 3550 ENTITY-MIB bug that I have seen mentioned elsewhere on this forum.

I have tried removing and re-adding the devices to RME the first inventory collection seems to work, but subsequent collections fail with the above error.

I've attached an extract from the IC_server.log which I think details my problem.

Any help appreciated.

This looks like CSCsm97530. A patch is available from the TAC.

I got the patch from TAC, however, it doesn't appear to fix the same issue with 7206 or 6506 devices. Would there be another bug/patch for these devices?

There could be numerous issues for RICS0001 issues. The error I saw in the log was related to this bug. If you have a TAC SR open, have them look at the errors for the other devices. If those devices are affected by this same bug, you may have to remove them from RME and re-add them to get the patch to have an effect.

IS it possible if i had this IC_Server.log for my customer, that you tell me if the bug CSCsm97530 involved too for this LMS.

I'm ready to open a another thread if needed.
