Deleting user account does not delete "SMTP Address"

A "SMTP address" is created in the format of [email protected] for every subscriber that is added. When a user is deleted, the “SMTP address” does not seem to get deleted. If you attempt to re-create the same user after you have deleted it, the “SMTP address” becomes [email protected]. If you try to change it back to [email protected], a message indicate that the SMTP address is already exists.

Does anyone know how to delete the SMTP address for subscriber? I'm running Unity Connection

Are you pointing to an external exchange server? in other words can you explictly delete the mailbox first?
