Upgrade bootloader in 3750

I upgraded the IOS on 3750 to 12.2(44)SE and the bootloader also changed and when I upgraded to 12.2(50), the bootloader did not change.

Is it necessary to upgrade the bootloader if yes, how do I upgrade it ?

I don't believe the bootloader gets changed on every upgrade , usually some new feature may trigger a bootloader upgrade but its not on every upgrade.

Thanks for the reply.

Is there a way to upgrade the bootloader manually on 3750 switch ?

If you upgrade to the new IOS, 12.2(50) OR 12.2(51), the bootloader will be upgraded from to 12.2(25r)SEE1 12.2(44)SE5.

After you copied the IOS to the switch, you will notice that the switch will actually boot TWICE. Once when the bootloader has been successfully been upgraded and the last time when the IOS gets loaded.

Hope this helps. Please rate when applicable.

Hi Leo,

I'm tried recovering a 2960 switch from ROMmon with c2960-lanbasek9-mz.152-2.E4.bin but after downloading  I set boot command on the new IOS. Finally I've seen that executing .... for long time

my switch boot loader is

ROM: Bootstrap program is C2960 boot loader
BOOTLDR: C2960 Boot Loader (C2960-HBOOT-M) Version 12.2(44)SE6, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

is there any compatibility between bootloader and IOS version running on switch.?

after that I've tried with c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE10.bin IOS with same procedure it worked?

what might be the root case ?

thanks in advance
