HI all,

Error on initialize VLAN database 1: VTP feature not yet initialized[OK]

Anybody know what this error means.

Device running WS-C2950G-48-EI in Transparent VTP mode. Help me how can I solve this problem.

Since your vlan database has over 30 vlans and there are no issues, I would ignore the error.

I would too, but sometimes this switch is malfunctioning, even I could not log-in the switch. the buffer log shows :

*Sep 9 23:29:49.894 NST: %SYS-2-MALLOCFAIL: Memory allocation of 259644 bytes failed from 0x803B719C, alignment 0

Pool: Processor Free: 0 Cause: Not enough free memory

Alternate Pool: I/O Free: 136388 Cause: Not enough free memory

how long has it been up for? sometimes a reboot fixes all!

Hi Andrew,

First time when I found this problem, it has been up since Sep 9.

Exactily sometimes a reboot fixes all the problem and start works like a normal switch.

Hi Ramesh,

I think your VLAN database is corrupt.

1. Delete the vlan.dat file

2. Enter the VLAN Database again.

3. Exit to save a new database.
