MCAST-SP-STDBY-6-GC_LIMIT_EXCEEDED

On a 6513 running 12.2(18)SXF5 I am getting the following errors in the log:

May 23 15:09:11 edt: %MCAST-SP-STDBY-6-GC_LIMIT_EXCEEDED: IGMP snooping was trying to allocate more Layer 2 entries than what allowed (15488)

This is getting repeated over and over. I do have multicast enabled but have never seen this message before nor am I able to find any info on cisco about it. Any thoughts?

Josh,

Resolved Caveats for Product `cat6000' and Component `cat6000-mcast'

•CSCsi99869-Resolved in 12.2(18)ZY2

Symptom:

Bus error crash (signal 10) seen after the following error message:

%MCAST-SP-6-GC_LIMIT_EXCEEDED: MLD snooping was trying to allocate more Layer 2 entries than what allowed (7744)

Conditions:

This has been observed on a Catalyst6500 running IOS version 12.2(18)SXF1.

Workaround:

A workaround exist to disable ipv6 mld snooping via the command no ipv6 mld snooping.

There is no negative impact of implementing the workaround as long as there is no IPV6 multicast traffic in the network.

Right I saw that. Although it states that it is for MLD snooping and the error I am receiving is IGMP. Any ideas there?

sorry Josh, I was a bit too quick!

All what I can find is this BUG CSCek26282.

MCAST-SP-STDBY-6-GC_LIMIT_EXCEEDED report on standby card

On a Catalyst 6500 running Native IOS, when the configured redundancy-mode is

Stateful Switchover (SSO), the following syslog message may be seen on the

standby supervisor; even in cases where the supported number of mac addresses

has not been exceeded:

%MCAST-SP-STDBY-6-GC_LIMIT_EXCEEDED

These messages (as long as they occur on the standby supervisor) can safely be

ignored as there is no adverse effect on system performance.

Above was taken from below link....I don't compeletely agree with the recomendation of simply ignoring it.
