Unity - choose language within personal greeting

I know that each mailbox has a language associated with it.

However, have customer who would like to have the ability to be greeted by the system as in "you have reached company x, for english press 1 for french press 2" and then be directed to the greeting to take message and be greeted in respective language by the person you are leaving the message for.

If this can be done by a "workaround" i'm good with that.

Just don't want to have to have something like 2 mailboxes per person to accomplish as that's fairly expensive.

thanks,

Paul.

You can only configure the language they will hear for the prompts

Language That Callers Hear

Select the language in which system prompts are played to callers. The language setting affects system prompts such as "You may record your message at the tone."

If you choose Inherited, Cisco Unity determines the language to use for system prompts on a per-call basis, depending on the language set by the handler or routing rule that processed the call. If the language is set to Inherited for every rule and handler that processes a call, then the system prompts are played in the default phone language.

The default phone language and the list of languages shown here are set on the System > Configuration > Phone Languages page.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity/5x/interface_reference/guide/ex/50curg040e.html

Set it inherited on subscribers, but make sure the caller input where you send the callers to, have it configured for english or french so any element reached from that call handler will use that language.

If they don't have custom greetings and use the default ones which only give you the recorded voice then this will work.

The custom greetings of course will not be affected. "Hi you have reached Paul at..." will be the same.

Many companies have their employees record a greeting in 2 languages (one after the other), that could solve your issue.

That's good to know - almost there.

only issue is the voicemail profile will then point to a call handler that asks for english and french and sets the language based on selection but how do i then get the caller to the individual subscribers mailbox/greeting?

thx.

Cisco Unity Connection allows a subscriber to record a greeting for each localized language the system supports.

So for example if the system was configured to support both English and French, a subscriber can record a standard greeting that is in English, and record another standard greeting that is in French.

is there any plan to have this feature in cisco unity as customer requires unified messaging.

thx.

paul.
