CUCM really has nothing to do with call quality issues, the RTP is between endpoints so the 1st step would be gathering sniffer traces to look at how the packets are being received. Pressing ? twice in the phone brings up statistics you can see in real time.

I'd check routing or QoS issues.

There are a few bugs that could cause choppy voice on phones so you can also look in the bug toolkit

Enable CDRs.

In the CDRs (CMRs) you may find some info about call quality. You can access them easily by the CAR tool.

There are different things that can happen in your scenario:


- DSPs

- QoS

- Configuration

- all calls/only some calls

- what's different (location, codec, MTP, ...)

Be sure to keep your mind open and don't lock in too early on one area.
