ASDM on ASA 5510 will not run after upgrade

Had a ASA 5510 running, could connect with ASDM no problem. Installed a 2nd ASA 5510 on a 2nd connection, it had slightly newer ASDM Launcher, it would not install, kept telling me to upgrade even after I did. Now cannot connect to either ASA. Connection attempts crash with a "Unconnected sockets not implemented." error.

Get this error with both the app install and the Java web version.

Have removed it, deleted all references to ASDM from registry, etc. Still nothing.

Any ideas?

I have seen the error message about Unconnected sockets not implemented. It was associated with a problem with certain versions of java. Some people have solved that issue by going to an older version of java on their PCs. I went to the newest version of ASDM and got around the problem. What version of ASDM are you running?

It's 6.0 on one box, 6.1 on the other.

I've gotten around this by installing ASDM for one box on one PC, and the other box on a different PC.

Kind of a pain though as now I have no connection from my PC.

This error is documented in bug: CSCsv12681.

You will need to load Java 6 Update 7. Available here: http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/6u7/index.html

or install ASDM 2.6.1 (asdm-621.bin). Available here:

Tried both, did not solve the problem.

sigh.

Sorry to hear my suggestion did not help.

Try opening up a case with TAC in order to get in depth troubleshooting for this problem.
