Switch Compatability for IP phone 7960

Hi All,

We will be using 7960 IP phone(15 Nos). Do I need PoE supported Switch/router or can I use any Switch?

Can you please name the supporting Hardware requirements for the same.

What are all the important Interface modules do i need?

Hi Siva,

With the 7940/7960 series you will require a switch that supports Cisco Pre-Standard PoE. So another provider like Linksys will not work (all Cisco PoE switches are backwards compatable for Pre-standard I believe). The phones can also be powered locally but this is a very messy solution.
