Hi, I have tree switch-

Sw1 (F0/1) is connected with Sw2(F0/1)

SW3 (F0/15)is connected with Sw2(F0/15).

SW1 is in Domain -A Server mode. Sw2 is in Transparte mode. SW3 is in Domain-A,client mode.

I want all vlans created on SW1 should propagete to SW3. But the barrier is SW2. SHould I congifure Dot1Q-Q Tunneling on F0/1 & F0/15 of SW2 ? Any tunnelling configuration needs on SW1 or SW3 ?

Hi,

you are right

Trunk has to established for vtp to propagate the vlan information

so create trunk link between sw1-sw2-sw3

switch in transparent mode could still pass the vlan information id vtp domain name is same.

Hello Rupesh,

you just need standard trunk links.

Verify that the VTP transparent switch is running vtp version 2

With VTPv1 a transparent switch verifies the vtp domain if different it discards VTP messages.

use

sh vtp status

for the check

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Thanks Shiva and Giuslar. You guys are champ. Thanks again.

so if all are in VTP V2, the transparent switch domain should'nt match with client/ server.?

Hello SonyS,

yes the vtp domain on the vtp transparent switch can be different if VTP version 2 is running on the transparent switch.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
