Hi

I am facing issues, unable to dial out using the E1.

I have configured Fractional PRI E1 on Cisco 3845, as follows:

controller E1 0/3/0

framing NO-CRC4

clock source internal

pri-group timeslots 1-8,16

interface Serial0/3/0:15

no ip address

encapsulation hdlc

isdn switch-type primary-net5

isdn incoming-voice voice

no cdp enable

dial-peer voice 3 pots

translation-profile incoming PSTN

destination-pattern 9T

direct-inward-dial

port 0/3/0:15

Upon running isdn q931 debug, i get the below:

*May 29 17:45:00.123: ISDN Se0/3/0:15 Q931: Applying typeplan for sw-type 0x12 i

As I've explained you above, it is normal for isdn test call to fail because no HDLC resources. This is because to process data calls, you need a special configuration not needed for voice calls.

Again, as explained before, the command to use is csim start .

Use the clock configuration that I've indicated and you will have no problems.

This is a data call:

Transfer Capability = Unrestricted Digital

How did you generated it ?

Hi friends,

I have seen Unrestricted Digital when doing calls from IP Phones with VideoCapabilities (Cisco 7985 or IP PHone with CUVA) to PSTN.

Configuring bearer-cap speech under voice-port should fix any problem with calls to PSTN from this type of endpoints.

Best regards,

- Adrián.

Does it mean the configuration is incorrect, as the requirement is to configure 8channel ISDN PRI E1 Voice channels.

This call was generated using isdn test call command from the Cisco 3845 router.

Thanks.

The configuration is correct.

isdn test call generates digital calls that are normally failing on a voice configuration.

With a normal dial peer configuration, you can use csim start for test calls.

Also remember to configure network-clock-participate and network-clock-select for the interface.

Finally, please remember to rate useful posts with the scrollbox below.

the isdn test call command is supposed to make dummy calls to the destination number, and call must be connected. please correct me if i am wrong.

My concern is I am getting the errors for No channel / circuit avialable and No HDLC available in the q931 debugs.

Thanks.

Thanks.
