WIC 1B S/T and SIP

Hello all,

I have 2 routers (cisco 2621XM and 1841) and want to use one of them with the ISDN card (WIC 1B S/T) for PSTN Breakout.

My idea is to create a SIP gateway on the router and then the ISDN card to the PSTN and use it as a gateway of the SIP devices.

Basically I have a OCS R2 infra-structure and i want to establish a SIP trunk between the Mediation Server and tyhe router and then create a few translations and dial peers to break out to the PSTN.

Is this possible ? Where can i find some examples to build a config ?

Thanks in advance

Nuno Ferreira

You cannot use the WIC for voice. W stands for WAN.

You can only use a vic2-2bri card. The V stands for Voice.

Yes you are right ..

I also have a VWIC-1MFT which I can use to connect to the PBX.

With this new interface is it possible to configure any of the routers in the scenario described above ? Any links to relevant documents ?

Thanks

You can use the VWIC in conjuction with DSP modules on ISR routers.

The 1841 does not supports voice interfaces of any kind.

The 2600 uses certain types of NM for voice.

So you have to decide first which router and interface you want to use.
