mask/change internal number in cucm 6.1.2

Hi,

I'm wanting to mask the internal number on some of our phones. e.g. an IT engineer makes an internal call - i want this to show as the helpdesk number (6000) so that users cannot ring the engineer back directly. I would still like for other IT staff to ring the engineer's directly, so i just need the number hiding/changing.

I'm using cucm 6.1.2

thanks

Normally you use the external phone number mask to define the caller ID that a phone sends out.

You will need to play around with your route patterns where you can define wether you want to accept the external phone number mask the phone is sending (tick box)

or wether you want to transform the calling phone number. You might have a challenge summarizing all non-IT staff or vice versa as you would like to capture all thes number in a pattern in wchich you can manipulate the caller ID

All you need to use is a translation pattern to do this

My apologies, didn't mean any offense. The TAC engineer we were working with gave us the same 4.x doc and many people on these forums mentioned that it did not work with the 6.x and above CM versions. As a matter of fact, we're still trying to make it work even after following these docs. Looks like a translation problem issue.

If you have not solved it yet

1. Create a Partition called HIDE CLI

2. Create a Translation Pattern for all internal phones i.e if you range is 2000-2999 then create a TP 2XXX

3. Assign the Partition HIDE CLI to the new TP

4. In the mask section add in the Service Desk number 6000

5. Assign a CSS to the TP so that the TP can access internal calls

6. Copy your normal CSS for users and rename it HIDE CLI and remove your normal internal Partitions and replace it with the new Partition HIDE CLI

Now when the IT engineer makes a call to DN`s beginning with 2XXX, the call is sent to the TP first and their CLI is replaced with the Service Desk number
