This might help:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3t/voice/command/reference/vrht_s05_ps5207_TSD_Products_Command_Reference_Chapter.html#wp1217856

"show dial-peer voice" shows the following heading:

Outbound state

Indicates the current outbound status of a POTS peer

"show dial-peer voice summary" shows these headings:

Field Description

dial-peer hunt

Hunt group selection order that is defined for the dial peer by using the dial-peer hunt command.

TAG

Unique identifier assigned to the dial peer when it was created.

TYPE

Type of dial peer: POTS, VoIP, VoFR, VoATM, or MMoIP.

ADMIN

Whether the administrative state is up or down.

OPER

Whether the operational state is up or down.

PREFIX

Prefix that is configured in the dial peer by using the prefix command.

DEST-PATTERN

Destination pattern that is configured in the dial peer by using the destination-pattern command.

PREF

Hunt group preference that is configured in the dial peer by using the preference command.

PASS THRU

Modem pass-through method that is configured in the dial peer by using the modem passthrough command.

SESS-TARGET

Destination that is configured in the dial peer by using the session target command.

PORT

Router voice port that is configured for the dial peer. Valid only for POTS dial peers.

I don't see an option for "outstat" with the summary option for the command.

so what does outbound state means and when it gets up and down ?

Hi,

Outbound state means whether or not it is a valid outgoing dial peer.

There are some things that will cause a dial peer not to be up:

voip:

no destination pattern

no session target

if you're monitoring the dial peer and there's no response

pots:

no destination pattern

no outgoing port

outgoing port is in use

outgoing port is stuck in a bad state

outgoing port is shut down

hth,

nick
