Upgrade from 4.x with no DMA?

Unusual situation here, hopefully someone can help.

I work with a vendor, and one of our customers has a 4.1(3) CM cluster. After taking on their business, they purchased an upgrade to 7.0(2). However, their configuration is uniquely awful and only semi-functional. The dial plan is a disaster.

As part of the upgrade, this customer is purchasing all new server hardware. Is there some way that we can successfully execute this upgrade without having to run the DMA tool on their existing Windows servers? DMA provides DLU licensing as well as configuration data, but the configuration data is next to useless, and is nothing we can't get by directly accessing the CM database anyway. Are upgrade DLUs available any other way?

I have had similar situations. The prior cluster was awful or setup by someone from microsoft. (jokes). We ended up exporting what we could to BAT, then copying and pasting into new CSV files and loading it into CUCM 7.x.

For licensing, it's pretty easy. Simple check out the Product Upgrade Tool so you get your license. Once you get the email conformation, turn around and forward this to licensing@cisco.com Request the following:

Temp License for 60 days (while the other ships)

(2) Node License (For Pub and Sub)

The DLU worksheet. (they will send you an excel sheet for calculating DLUs, you send it back and they will inturn issue you your DLUs

Install your new Pub/Sub install the NODE licenses, install the DLU license and you are set.

The more info you give to licensing, the more they get confused. Less is better. Contract numbers, SmartNet Numbers, Entitlement numbers are all keys here.

Thanks to you and java for your help.

Yes, this configuration was originally developed by one of those giganto-corps who tried to save costs by neglecting to train their engineers on what Partitions and CSSes do. :)

We'll probably use BAT or AXL to extract MAC addresses, DNs and gateway info, and rebuild from scratch.
