Any ideas why on remote sites using g729 the silence is heard. on central site g711 work fine. the ccm is 4.1 and the router is 1751-v using fxs.

Try these commands:
mgcp behavior g729-variants static-pt
mgcp behavior dynamically-change-codec-pt disable
Also, you can disable the advertising of G729 annex b in the service parameters.
