Imap + Iphone

Has anyone setup a UC500 Imap account on an Iphone?  I tried to set it up and it says "Cannot get mail" "The connection to the server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx failed."  I have external access to the Cisco Imap setup correctly.  I can connect remotely with Outlook to the Cisco Imap with no problems.  Initially, the Iphone did not like my account as ciscouser@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx so I mapped the IP to a domain name.  I tried to setup the incoming mail server as the IP and domain name with the same results.

This is a very good question and it would be cool if we made it work, but I don't think it is possible. I searched some internal aliases and people have found similar problems when trying to do it.

I went ahead and tried it on my system anyways, and I found that I can log in OK to CUE from my iPod Touch using Mail, but listing the messages just times out on me. The trick for a successful login is to configure the account with a domain name, but then go in and edit it to change it for an IP. My iPod never complained after I did that.

This is what the IMAP trace looks like in CUE for the iPod. Notice how I can log in fine, but the SEARCH command returns an error. CUE later complains that the search string was null:

I don't think this is going to work without some development on our side, which is not a top priority at this point. I will get with the CUE Product team and update you on my findings.

I don't have a system to test with, but on my iPhone I see an email setting for IMAP path prefix.

Maybe set that to INBOX to get it to work?  I am curious to see if this works and then if the .wav files are encoded in a format that the iPhone can play.  Keep us posted.

Hi all,

I got an update on this. The reason why IMAP doesn't work is because CUE doesn't support SEARCH. We are looking at adding this IMAP command in a future release.

Thanks,

Marcos

Has there been any developments regarding IMAP and the iphone?

No updates so far.

Hi everybody,

CUE 8.0 has been enhanced to include this. We will include the 8.0 version of CUE in the UC500 later this year.

Thanks,

Marcos
