CME overlay/Shared line

Unanswered Question
Jun 2nd, 2009

Hi all, I have the following config. My goal is to have 5010 ring all phones, with the ability for a max of 4 active 5010 calls since I have 4fxo lines. If all are busy or no answer goes to 6000. It seems that currently I can only get to inbound to 5010 and answer the third and 4th go directly to voice mail am I missing something? Thanks in advance!

You really need something like this:

ephone-dn 1 dual

number x

! overlay

no huntstop

hunt channel

ephone-dn 2 dual

number x

! overlay

no huntstop

hunt channel

ephone-dn 3 dual

number x

! overlay

no huntstop

hunt channel

ephone-dn 4 dual

number x

! overlay

ephone 1

button 1o5,1,2,3,4

ephone 2

button 1o6,1,2,3,4

ephone 3

button 1o7,1,2,3,4

ephone 4

button 1o8,1,2,3,4

etc.

In this case you have only given 5010 2 channels. If you want more channels you have to configure the same DN on multiple ephone-dns.

My recommendation is that you update to latest CME, that will give you both parallel hunt-group, and octo-line DNs, that will allow you to do blast calling in a much easier way.

Note generally speaking blast calling is not the best way and is asked by customer that really do not weight the consequences and possible alternatives.

I thought about octo-lines, and it is much easier to configure, but it slightly changes the dynamic here.

You can't overlay octo lines, which means the users would have two separate buttons instead of 1 they have right now. If that's cool with the users, I would do that.

The configuration is much simpler:

ephone-dn 1 octo

number x

busy-trigger 4

ephone 1

button 1:2 2:1

ephone 2

button 1:3 2:1

ephone 3

button 1:4 2:1

ephone 4

button 1:5 2:1

..

etc
