Max distance between T1 smartjack and cisco router

What is the max distance allowed between a t1 smartjack and my cisco router dsu/csu using a cat5e cable. Some searches on the web says its 100meters b/c of ethernet. And some says over 100meters b/c its a serial conn NOT an ethernet. Which one is right? thanks

Hello Jeff,

max reach of T1 over RJ-48 is 655 feet = roughly 200 meters.

the 100 meters is for ethernet lan.

T1 can use a similar cable to that of Fast ethernet/ethernet but it uses different modulations and so it has an higher reach (because it is slower )
