Solved: simple question about VTY

Hi there,

when i want to configure ssh to be used in telnet ,do i need to enter the vty like using these commands:

(config)# line vty 0 1180

do i really need 1180 , and what does it refer to .

With newer IOS releases (relatively new), the number of VTY lines have been increased (from 5/16 to 1000+). You need to do 'transport input all' or 'transport input telnet ssh' on the lines to allow telnet & ssh together.

You can just configure as many lines as you need, for example lines 0 to 15 and leave the rest. This is a good template to secure IOS configurations, check the VTY configuration section:
