TFTP server on CiscoWorks LMS

Is it possible to enable TFTP server on CiscoWorks and transfer the devices' image directly from the devices, without configuring CWLMS to get the image on these devices?

My problem is that customer can't configure RW devices' communties on CWLMS, so what customer would like to do is run the CLI commands on device to use CWLMS as TFTP server and send devices' image to this TFTP server (CWLMS).

Does anyone know if this is possible?

I don't see why not, assuming you have a functioning instance of LMS.

This is entirely possible and we've done it a few times.

LMS has a TFTP server enabled by default so there's no need to install a 3rd party TFTP server.

Just drop the files into the %NMSROOT%\tftpboot folder and they'll be available to TFTP.

Hope that makes sense..

PS. This works on a Windows platform, not sure about Solaris..

Sorry, just re-read your first post..

Not sure if you can copy the image FROM the flash TO the TFTP server...I tried it just now and it failed. I suspect this is because the server and file system won't allow anonymous read/write access to that particular folder??

It works, if one first creates an empty file with the desired name in the /tftpboot directory and makes it world-writable.
