Hey Pete,

Maybe this is what you saw?

Installing and Activating Cisco Unified Communications Manager Attendant Console

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tip If you upgrade from a compatible Cisco CallManager 4.X release or a compatible Cisco Unified Communications Manager 5.X or 6.X release to Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 7.1(2), you can obtain the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Attendant Console plug-in from the Find and List Plugins window in Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration.

Cisco does not support the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Attendant Console with new installations of Cisco Unified Communications Manager 7.1(2), and the plug-in does not display in the Find and List Plugins window in Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration after new installations. If you reinstall Cisco Unified Communications Manager 7.X on a server after an upgrade to 7.1(2), the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Attendant Console plug-in does not display in Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration on that server after you complete the installation.

If you obtained the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Attendant Console plug-in from the Cisco software download site in Cisco Unified Communications Manager 7.0, you can use that plug-in with Cisco Unified Communications Manager 7.1(2). In this case, Cisco recommends that you save the plug-in to a location on a PC that you will remember.

If you want to use attendant console functionality after a Cisco Unified Communications Manager 7.1(2) installation/upgrade, Cisco recommends that you use the Cisco Unified Business Attendant Console, Cisco Unified Enterprise Attendant Console, or the Cisco Unified Department Attendant Console.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The following lists describes the tasks that you must perform to activate and install Cisco Unified Communications Manager Attendant Console:

1. Use Cisco Unified Serviceability to activate and start the Cisco CallManager Attendant Console Server service on all servers that are running the Cisco CallManager service and to activate the CTIManager service on one server in the cluster. Refer to the Cisco Unified Serviceability Administration Guide.

2. Configure Cisco Unified Communications Manager Attendant Console in Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration. See the "Configuring Cisco Unified Communications Manager Attendant Console" section.

3. After you upgrade to Cisco Unified Communications Manager 7.1(2), install and configure the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Attendant Console plug-in on each attendant PC. For more information, see the "Installing the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Attendant Console Plug-in on an Attendant PC" section, the "Starting Cisco Unified Communications Manager Attendant Console After Installing Windows XP SP2" section, and the "Configuring Cisco Unified Communications Manager Attendant Console Settings" section. After the attendant console is configured, it operates with the specified settings until the administrator changes them.

4. If the attendants require Cisco Attendant Console user windows to display in a language other than English, make sure that you install the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Locale Installer on every server in the cluster. For more information, refer to the Cisco Unified Communications Operating System Administration Guide.

Hope this helps!

Yep, thats what i'm looking for. Think its a good idea to look to move away from AC altogether, sounds like they wont support it much longer, irregardless of upgrade or install. Thanks

Just an FYI,

I was at cisco last week for training and the question came up about TAC support for AC and 7.X CUCM Versions. TAC will support AC if in fact you did an upgrade from earlier version.

If you are installing a clean install then AC is not supported by TAC.

The future of AC is ARC Solutions software which I believe will require its own server.

thanks for the reply. I will probably be moving to ARC, because undoubtedly, cisco will eventually drop support altogether

Yup, In the 8.X release of CUCM the AC won't function at all. You will have to move to third party for this functionality.
