Solved: 12.2(18)SXE6b replacement

Hi,

we are using 12.2(18)SXE6b on a C6509 with a WS-SUP720-BASE supervisor. A Cisco engineer told us we should upgrade, as the image is deferred.

Using the software advisor, I cannot find an IOS compatible with the WS-SUP720-BASE, as it only gives me the WS-SUP720-3B as an option.

We are using SSH for mgmt. Other cards installed are WS-X6724-SFP and WS-X6704-10GE.

What IOS should I take?

WS-SUP720-3B will be fine. Your Sup720 is probably that - the WS-SUP720-BASE is just what's written on the front panel. A show version will tell you the type of Supervisor.

You will _probably_ want to go to a 12.2(33)SXI code of the same feature type as your current (IP Base / IP Services or alike), but best to check in the Feature Navigator as well:

Hi Iyde,

thanks for your reply. It sure helps. I'll have a look at the features of 12.2(33)SXI. I guess it will be sufficient, we're not using special things.

a show version didn't really help me to check the exact type. The front panel only says WS-SUP720.
