Yes, it does.

It is quite strange for branch offices to use modem dial-up, because it is so slow. You would do better with broadband access and VPN like everybody else does nowadays.

If you need help in configuration I suggest you locate a competent consultant or cisco partner.

Thank You for you quick response on this case. We also one of partners. Its a known issue of dial-up but its the requirement so we are trying to set up.

For that requirement, we have

A router with 2851 with modules

HWIC-2CE1T1-PRI and PVDM-24DM

On this case, we are not being able for channelizing the E1 controller and as it shows 24 Async Interface on command

sh ip int brf

That is making us on confusion on configuration so we would like to put forward this case to all, so that can get the clear documents related. Hoping for needful help.

Hello

Well , we are still on some confusion on setting this E1 RAS on cisco 2851, issues are:

- E1 link whenever connected to HWIC 2CE1T1 PRI module of cisco 2851, line status will be busy.

******issued check - physical layer

***Checked all the phases of link as we have Patton RAS 2960, the same link works.

requirement is:

We want do use dial up to access remote network, we have

HWIC 2CE1T1 PRI

PVDM 24DM

Cisco 2851

SH ver--- attached

We have got configured but still not functionable, so please can anyone provide any information on our configuration. I will be very kindful for your help.

You do not have anything under controller E1, configure pri-group or E1 R2 as needed.

Hello paolo

I am confused on dial up services and isdn service, as requirement is

- User dials from anywhere to cisco 2851 E1 RAS for accessing the network resources behind our RAS.

As known from the cisco documentation and doing -to configure pri-group or E1 R2 we are required to enable ISDN switch type. Doing configure shows as follow:

RTR(config-controller)#pri-group timeslots 1-31

%ISDN switch-type must be set first.

Is ISDN required to match our requirement.

It's a great help for me fro you,, i really appreciate for you help.

Ask your telco, if you have ISDN PRI or E1 R2.

Hello Paolo

Thanks for you response, i really appreciates for your help.

As our telco services, we have E1 R2 but command required for R2 signalling DS0 group not acceptable by router.

Only commands available under Controller is:

xxxx(config-controller)#?

Controller configuration commands:

bert Start BERT test

channel-group Specify the timeslots to channel-group mapping for an

interface

clock Specify the clock source for a DS1 link

default Set a command to its defaults

description Controller specific description

exit Exit from controller configuration mode

framing Specify the type of Framing on a E1 link

guard-timer Guard timer (0-20) for xcsp calls - timer duration and

accept/reject on expiry

help Description of the interactive help system

line-termination Specify the line termination for E1

linecode Specify the line encoding method for a E1 link

no Negate a command or set its defaults

pri-group Configure the specified timeslots for PRI

shutdown Shut down a E1 link (send Blue Alarm)

snmp Modify SNMP controller parameters

tdm-group Configure DS0 group for TDM

Can you please update any information in this issue, how to add E1 R2 Signalling under this controller?

Waiting for further update.

Change ios image to "ip voice".

Hello Paolo

Actually, we are using for data not for voice thats why we have updated the IOS with this version. After looking on cisco dynamic configuration tool we came to know currently used IOS on our router

-(c2800nm-spservicesk9-mz.124

is-11.XW5.bin)-

doesn't support existing cisco router 2851 with E1 card (HWIC-2CE1T1-PRI)along with PVDM2-24DM modules, suggested IOS as per configuration tool is:

To correct this error REPLACE the S28NSPSK9-12411XW from the following options

Is this what the problem is about? Among the specified IOS any one supported for our requirement? Hope for your response soon.

Not sure. It may be that the HWIC doesn't support E! R2. Ask your telco if you can get ISDN PRI instead.
