Hi All,

I am using call recording software and it requires the phone using G.711 codec. 7941 and 7961 advertise G.722 codec . if I disable "Advertise G.722 codec" in phone configuration page, is it going to use G.711?

any suggestion would be very appreciated.

thanks

Alex

Alex,

If you disable "Advertise G.722 codec" the IP Phone will use g.711. The IP Phones are capable of handling g.722, g.711 and g.729 codecs. Once you disable g.722 than the phones will advertise g.711 and g.729 and if the other endpoint, in this case recording server, advertises g.711 than the media will be negotiated to do g.711.

You need to make sure that the regions are configured properly especially if MTP is going to be invoked. Make sure that the region that IP Phone is in, the recording server is in and the MTP is in all do g.711 primarily.

Thanks,
