Is Running a Fluke LinkRunner Dangerous?

Hi All,

I'm not a network admin, but I am having trouble getting no link light with a supposedly configured network cable.

I want to borrow a Fluke LinkRunner to test the port and a CableIQ to test and trace the cable, but I am told by our network admin that doing so might cause problems on the switch.

I can't imagine how that would be, and in my previous job we used sniffers and cheap voltage testers all the time. But I've never used a Fluke.

Is it true I could cause problems on a switch by running a LinkRunner for a couple of minutes on a supposedly live port?

We've been using them for over 5 years (daily) and they have NEVER caused a problem.
