Chat-script config

Hi all,

I am trying to configure 1841 router with WIC-1T card and external CDMA modem.

I have configured line tty interface for autodiscovery. Is it mandatory to configure chat-script?. I donot know the chat script details of the modem. How to go with?

Yes, I believe you do need a chat-script to initialize the modem. Here is a URL for configuring the 3200 with external modems. I think it would work similarly with the 1841. At the end of this document there are chat scripts for the most popular modems and carriers. You may want to check with your carrier to ensure the accuracy. HTH

Has the modem an asynch interface? If so, you cannot use it with WIC-1T.

Hi,

Yes, I am using WIC-1T & CDMA Modem is Async. But as per document, WIC-1T works in both Async & Sync mode when used with 1700 Routers. I hope this is same for 1841 also.

Not sure, Cisco often "forgets" to carry features from one platform to another.

Perhaps the AUX port would work.
