Additional NIC Card on MCS and HP servers

Hi,

We would like to instal an additional 3rd NIC on each of the below mentioned servers. This is for backup of these servers which would happen on the dedicated 3rd NIC. Please advise if there is a provisioning to instal another NIC card alongwith the default 2 NICs.

Application Version Model

CM Publisher 6.1.3.2000-1 MCS-7845-H2

CM Subscriber 6.1.3.2000-1 MCS-7845H2-K9-CMA2

CUPS 6.0.3 MCS-7845H2-K9-CMB1

Cisco Unity 4.2 MCS-7845H

IP IVR 5.0 MCS-7835H

CUOM 2.1 HP ProLiant DL360 G5

CUSM 2.1 HP ProLiant DL360 G5

CUSSM 1.1 HP ProLiant DL360 G5

CUPM 1.2 HP ProLiant DL360 G5

Regards,

Ramesh

On the Windows server, you probably can, but the linux platform, it's probably not supported by TAC. The Root access to any of the linux platforms is locked down, hence, you cant install additional components. I'm not sure what a third NIC would do for you since (2) are on board and configured for Fault Tolerant. Plus you have iLO to access the box if something was down between the NICs.

The reason being, (2) NICs on each server for CUCM, there is always another Subscriber or backup CUCM server in the cluster to take over. Segmenting out network appropiately and designing the infrastructure appropriately will take care of adding in a third NIC for you.

For an official answer, check with TAC, but we can all assume it's a no.
