SNMP LOG

I have an NMS that I use to poll my devices with SNMP. I want the device to send log to the syslog server when ever it is polled.

Just,

What are you trying to achieve here ?

If NMS is configured correctly, it would poll quiet regularly and in this case do you wnat to overwhelm both your network and your syslog server with unnecessary entries and traffic ?

If you simply want to validate that NMS is polling every 5min, you could use a sniffer so you can see both poll and reply...after that the system should take care of itself leaving syslog to take care of more serious issues.

I concur with the original response, but if you really want to do this...

For CatOs:

set logging level snmp informational

For IOS:

logging buffered informational

This is likely to fill up your log and produce a lot of noise in which you may be hard pressed to distinguish the signal you are trying to see.

should do it.
