WLC526 + 521 Controlled AP's + 3COMSwitch (not managed)

I'm unable to setup the connection between a WLC526 an a AP521 (controlled) access point. I'm not using a cisco switch in between but an 3 year Old 3com switch. Using CCA I can see that the AP has announced itself to the WLC, but the AP is not configured automatically.

Do i need a Cisco switch (eg 520 series) to setup the wireless environment because of it's smartport functionality?

Problem solved. I'm able to use a standard L2 3Com switch.
