Hi All,

I have 6513 switch. i have create a template for QOS to be deployed on switch but i m not able to deploy service policy on interface, i m getting error when doing output policy that MQC not supported on this interface , when i do the same with input interface then getting error that NBAR matching protocols are not supported. actually i have create the simple template with allocating bandwidth percent to each class according to its prirority. plz tell me how can i deploy the service policy. and if possible plz suggest any better template for 6513 switch

See posting "LAN, Switching and Routing: QOS deployment on 6513"

Layer-3 QoS is not supported on all Catalyst 6500 line cards.

Typically, Layer-3 QoS is fully supported only on the following linecards:

- OSM cards, such as OSM-2+4GE-WAN+ (EOS)

- FlexWAN modules

- SPA's on SIP's

Can you post the "show module", to see what type of linecards you have?

I have the spame problem. Basically, I want to throttle bandwidth on a lan port connected to a test server which is running loadrunner. I need the test server to simulate a 6 MB, 10 MB or T1 type of connection. I can't use the bandwidth command (not supported) and both Service-policy "output" or "input" give me an error. Do I not have the right hardware?

access-list 150 permit tcp any any eq 443

Class-map match-any 10MB

Match access-group 150

Policy-map 10MB

Class 10MB

Priority percent 10

Class class-default

set dscp default

Fair-queue

random-detect

interface g1/46

Service-policy output 10MB

interface g1/40

Service-policy output 10MB

MQC "tagging" features like setting DSCP I believe are input only 6500 virtual interfaces and priority queueing is for

outbound on an interface only.

The WS-X6548-GE-TX and WS-X6748-SFP cards do not support MQC (Modular QoS CLI).

Only a few cards on the Catalyst 6500 support that (usually referred as WAN cards).

thanx for reply , now what should i do now to apply MQC ?

regards,

Tarn

The Catalyst 6500 supports a subset of the MQC.

You need to take a look at the Configuration Guide for your Catalyst 6500's IOS version.

Example: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.2SXF/native/configuration/guide/qos.html#wp1465326

You will have to configure LAN QoS commands for those QoS mechanisms that are not supported via MQC.

Example of LAN QoS commands:

-- Global --

mls qos

mls qos map cos-dscp 0 8 16 24 32 46 48 54

-- Interface --

mls qos trust cos

wrr-queue cos-map 1 1 1

wrr-queue bandwidth 30 70
