HSRP or GLBP with 6500 CSM Module

Hi;

We've got two 6500 series switches with WS-X6066-SLB-S-K9 module.

We want to implement load-balancing mechanism between modules on switches.

Which method have to be used ? HSRP or GLBP ?

Thanks.

I have this problem too.

it depends on the design.

Do you want to achieve loadbalancing towards the access layer? > HSRP active and STP root for even vlans on 6500 left, HSRP active and STP root for odd vlans for example

or do you want to achieve loadbalancing towards core switches?

> do you use a routing protocol? eventually loadbalancing via routing protocol

no routing protocol? do you have equal uplinks

etc

depends in my opinion on your design

Let me give some information about our infrastructure;

- There are 25 application servers on 6500 and behind WS-X6066-SLB-K9-S module. Some of them in DMZ zone and the others is LAN zone.

- We dont use routing protocol, only static route to remote offices

In fact, customer want to use application servers on two 6500 with behind WS-X6066-SLB-K9-S module effectively in LAN and DMZ.

We can manage customer if we believe them HSRP or GLBP is more suitable for your network.

what do you suggest ?
