WAAS Inline Mode and Multicast MAC

Has this issue been resolved in later releases?

For traffic from the WAN to the LAN where the destination MAC address of the next hop is a multicast MAC address, the Cisco WAE Inline Network Adapter does not optimize the traffic. The Cisco WAE Inline Network Adapter optimizes traffic only if the next hop MAC address is a unicast address.

This states that this is a WAN to LAN issue. What about LAN to WAN side, for instance if you have two routers running HSRP for HA, does the WAE with inline adapter support optimization in that case?

What's the recommended work around for this type of situation?

To obtain an optimal performance for data replication, Cisco WAAS recommends using `Inline' mode and installing the WAE that will be performing data replication optimization as close as possible to the storage systems. Thus the WAE that is configured for `Replication Accelerator' will not have to receive non-Data Replication (DR) traffic. The `Inline' mode also supports `Port-Channel', which enables load-balancing and `high-availability' should one of the physical link fails.
