Vlan Group Version Port List

------------------------------------------------------------

1 239.192.4.64 v1 Fa0/22

1 239.192.4.128 v2 Fa0/23

1 239.192.4.129 v2 Fa0/23

1 239.255.255.250 v3 Fa0/14, Fa0/17, Fa0/27, Fa0/36, Fa0/43

My question is this. What does the Version mean? port FA0/22 is v 1 and port FA0/23 is v2.

And port FA0/23 shows two group addrs.

Any ideas?

I'm not a multicasting expert, but fa0/23 is probably a member of the two multicasting groups that the port shows. There are 3 versions of IGMP with many technical differences between. The hosts that are on f0/22 and f0/23 probably have software that is requesting a certain version. More than likely that software can be told to use a certain version as well.
