Is it possible to connect fibre optic cable(provided by ISP) directly to router without v.35 and g.703 modem.. If we need any converter what type of converter needed..

Some router models have an available SFP port where you could plug in the fiber. As you stated you could also use a media converter. I prefer Transition, here's a link to a sample product.

Colin's right. The 3800 router has one port that's a "dual personality". All you need is the correct SFP module.
Other routers, such as the 1800 and 2800 support the HWIC-1GE. Again, all you need is the correct SFP module.
