On the ACE in order to get the application to work we are using cookie insert. The rproblem we are having is when the user logs out of the application we would like the cookie to expire, but right now they stay connected to the same server when they re-login some time later. IWe know that we can change the timer value, but is there any other options to expire a cookie after logging out?
sticky http-cookie CXPbase CXPBase-Sticky
cookie insert browser-expire
serverfarm CXP-Perf_Base
sticky http-cookie CXPcz CXPCZ-Sticky
cookie insert browser-expire
serverfarm CXP-Perf_CZ

You can't control what the browser will do with the cookie.
All you can do is tell the browser that there is a validity date associated with the cookie.
This is done by configuring a timeout as you mentioned.

Alan,
If the client is using a browser to connect to a URL the browser-expire command will work fine, but keep in mind that not all applications work the same and the browser-expire may end a sticky session prematurely.
The default value for a sticky session is 24 hours. I try to find out as much as I can about the application I am about to load balance before I set the sticky timeout.
When the application admin is not able to give me the information that I need; I configure the cookie to timeout in three hours. As far as I know, the ACE module will not termnate an active cookie session unless told to.
