The Cisco UCS 6100 can operate in End Host Mode (default) or in switching mode. Changing between the 2 modes is disruptive to the cluster. In End Host mode Ethernet-pinning is used to maintain Multipathing without Spanning-tree, in switch mode Spanning-tree is required and the 2 6100 interconnects can be ISL'ed together as any L2 switch.
