We have 7604 with WS-SUP720-3B and WS-X6724-SPF 24 ports card, running 12.2(33)SRA5. The access-list selecting the interesting traffic to be marked for business class (dscp af42/43) at the lan interface service policy does not increment counters, while the policy map on the output wan interface is showing traffic forwarded in business class. The lan interface does not trust incoming qos values. The behavior does not change on routers upgraded to SRB4. But similar configuration on 7206VXR shows incrementing counters for the access-list. So I assume qos is working correctly. Does somebody have an explanation?
The ACLs are still doing their job and incoming LAN traffic is getting marked. As Sam suggested, 'show policy-map interface' will guide you on what's getting matched.
ACLs in the 7600 /much like in the 6500/ are hardware assisted so they aren't processed by the CPU like in the regular routers /7206 VXR - for instance/.
So, the behavior you are seeing is quite normal on that platform.
Does that mean, using ACL is not the appropriate method to select interesting incoming lan traffic for qos marking? What would you suppose to applicate qos marking on 7600?
ACLs will still do what you are expecting them to do, you need to refer to "sh policy map interface X/Y" to see counters incrementing and validating ur ACL is catching the traffic you need it to.
