I recevied an e-mail today saying "FINAL entry: Product Alert Tool is now retired" and redirecting me to:

http://www.cisco.com/cisco/support/notifications.html

which turns out to be a bogus page. Anyone know anything about this? Has the tool really be replaced and, if so, with what?

Hi Ray,

Excellent question my friend! I was worried about this as well when i heard the news, but I think we should be good to go still :)

Cisco Retires the Software News and Product Alert Tool

Cisco is retiring the Software News and Product Alert Tool email alert system on June 26, 2009. The Software News and Product Alert Tool will be replaced by the Cisco Notification Service, which provides enhanced alerting capabilities.

Your Software News and Product Alert Tool email subscription profiles and groups will be migrated automatically to the Cisco Notification Service when the new tool is launched on June 26, 2009.

You are not required to take any action as a result of the transition to the new Cisco Notification Service tool, and there will be no interruption of service to your current subscriptions and notifications.

Once the new Cisco Notification Service tool is launched, emails will be sent from a new email address. Please update your email rules, filters, or SpamFilters to accept this email address: CiscoNotificationService@cisco.com

http://www.cisco.com/web/tsweb/help/cns-prelaunch-more-info.html

**Note: Cisco is only permitted to migrate profiles for users with "Active" Cisco.com Userid's at time of migration 6/26/09.

Hope this helps!

Rob

You may have received a Product Alert Tools message that said:

" FINAL entry: Product Alert Tool is now retired.

...

http://www.cisco.com/cisco/support/notifications.html"

The Cisco Notification Service replaces the Product Alert Tool, and the URL provided (http://www.cisco.com/cisco/support/notifications.html) will NOT be LIVE until Saturday June 27th 2009.

For Details (prior to June 27th 2009) you can see the coming soon more information page at:

Is there a problem with the new system?

The link has been giving an internal server error since I received it in email Friday, 6/26/09.

Thanks.

Hi Paul,

Works fine for me.

This morning it is working. So it looks like they fixed it.
