High processor utilisation on 6509 cat os

Please, I have a 6509 running cat OS..my process is running up to 80%..

1.What is the max advisable

2.Could this be more of routing than switching ?

3.What command do I issue on 6509 at the switching plane, to see the proc usage.

Hello Just,

a troubled day yours but this could explain also the other issue (the OSPF one).

1) a C6500 is expected to work between 10-30% cpu under heavy load traffic (not in a lab)

2) if this is a lab the issue can be caused by STP problems

also if it is in hybrid mode and you refer to supervisor cpu usage clearly it cannot be caused by routing issues.

The STP has not been altered for a long while. Also how will I troubleshoot the STP. If there is loop and broadcast on my network pls how can I troubleshoot it.
