Hi,

What's the major difference between the LAN Base IOS and the IP Base IOS for the 4948-10GE switch.

This reference WS-C4948-10GE is shipped with optional software image, what's that means ?

Hi Yassine,

LAN Base IOS means it only has L2 features, such as VTP, STP, RSTP, etc.

IP Base IOS means it has basic L3 features, like static route, RIP, etc.

Optional software are the additional features like SSH, where it consider crypto image.
