Question...

I had a user that needs to access our guest wireless network from his Iphone. He told me anywhere he goes, he just gives the IT dept his MAC address and they add it on thier firewall so he can have access...

How do i do that? I have an ASA firewall 5520.

For now, i just gave him the SSID and password for access, but his way sounds more secure.

HELP!!!!!

Hi Dustin,

This is slightly outside of my area of expertise, but I think you will want to look at the MAC-based ACL filters on the AP. See below for some configuration guides that explain the process you'll want to follow.

Here is the configuration guide for the CLI:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a008058ed26.shtml#macbasedacls

Here is the configuration guide for the Web-based config:

http://www.cisco.com/web/techdoc/wireless/access_points/online_help/eag/123-08.JA/1100/h_ap_services_filters-mac.html

The settings you are looking for are under Services>Filters>MAC Address Filters in the Web-based config.

Hope that helps.

Dustin,

Something like this is not done on your ASA. Instead, you would want to look into the MAC address filter feature on your wireless access point.

Hope that helps.
